The Great War: The First Battle of the Somme – France.

In July 1914, around four thousand volunteer soldiers of the 38th (Welsh) Division were killed or injured whilst taking the Mametz forest from the professional German soldiers.

This powerful novel follows the stories of three soldiers – Huw, Cledryn and Ephraim – and the winding path which took them from Wales to the centre of the devastation on the field of that bloody battle.
